This presentation describes techniques employed to rapidly source and compile geospatial datasets, perform data preprocessing, conduct spatial analysis, and make maps and reports to support disaster recovery field teams working in response to the explosion at the Port of Beirut in Lebanon in 2020. Relevant aspects include: (1) Leveraging URISA and a network of global and in-situ experts to rapidly find and source base-map and damage assessment GIS and remotely sensed imagery datasets, (2) Applying spatial analytic geoprocessing to enhance datasets for cartographic decision support, and (3) Producing damage assessment maps and tables to guide field teams through debris fields to locations of buried hospitals, schools, and utilities. We will also briefly cover maps and reports produced to identify landfill sites for receiving debris cleared from blocked streets to enable ingress of recovery equipment.
